Introduction to Umpiring courses - Spring 2018

Clubs are encouraged to send players to the splendid "Introduction to Umpiring" courses. These courses are very enjoyable and attendees come away knowing much more about the laws and how to umpire. Since very many players in your club have to umpire during your games, you really should have as many as possible of the players attending the course. There are at least 5 courses planned this Spring:

Wednesday April 4 at Cirencester CC 6.30-9.30pm
Monday April 9 at Aston Ingham CC 6.30-9.30pm
Monday April 23 at Upton St Leonards CC 6.30-9.30pm

These courses cost £10 to attend. You get the new 2018 MCC Law Book.
Contact Pete Sawyer 01452 812911 or pwsawyer@btinternet.com to book a place

Please note: we have a new sponsor: RJE Design & Printing. This company is owned by Ross Elvin, who plays for Ullenwood Bharat, and he'd love to quote for printing for you or your club. Contact RJE via its website (click on the logo above).

There is a report on the AGM that was held in January HERE.

Voting has closed on the points in conceded games. There were 39 votes cast (out of 47). The result is as follows:
  • The "winning" team will get the maximum awarded on the same weekend in the same division. This will happen even if no games complete, in which case the max will be 6 plus maybe a few bonus points if one of the other games was abandoned. This is a change from the existing rule which was that the winning team simply got 20 points in every case. Votes 21 v 18 for max points when other games played, votes 25 v 14 for max points when no other games played.
  • The team conceding will have 20 points deducted in all cases (no change from the current rule). Votes 25 in for no change, 14 in favour of -6 points.
24 March - The fixtures in Division 2 West have been extensively revised to cope with the loss of Newent 3rd XI.

4 April - It has finally been announced that Newnham-on-Severn will not enter a team. Accordingly Cinderford St John 2nd XI will move into their spot in Division 1 West and Upton St Leonards 2 will take Cinderford's place in Division 2 West. There are now 8 teams in Division 2 West and 9 in Division 2 East. Teams that were due to play Newnham will play Cinderford 2 instead. Teams that were due to play Cinderford 2 will play Upton St Leonards instead. Teams that were due to play Upton St Leonards 2 will have a blank day. Fixtures have been updated on play-cricket.
